The Gravesend and District Theatre Guild was formed in 1948 when the various small amateur drama groups in the area formed a central body for support and mutual benefit.
It was felt that by utilising the talent from the many Societies the Theatre Guild would be able to present stage productions of a high standard that might possibly be beyond the scope of individual groups. This has been fulfilled by over one hundred productions of musicals, drama and variety shows. After many years without a home, the Theatre Guild opened the Guild Theatre at Vale Road in 1991.
The Theatre Guild goes from strength to strength featuring performers from our own Direct Membership and that of six Affiliated Societies from the area. As we enter our twentieth season in our own theatre, we’re sure you’ll agree there’s something for everyone.
